Melody Time
A number of animated tales are set to a rousing array of music from the 1940s from the likes of Roy Rogers, Ethel Smith and Frances Langford. The stories include wintertime lovers who get a helping hand from forest animals, a bumblebee surrounded by jazzy caterpillars, the oft-told tale of Johnny Appleseed, Donald Duck and his parrot buddy getting pushed around by a bully bird to a Latin-inspired soundtrack, and the legend of Pecos Bill -- a man raised by coyotes and turned into a cowboy.
Zorro
The masked swordsman swashes a mean buckle as the dashing alter ego of 19th century Spanish California aristocrat Don Diego de la Vega. His faithful manservant, Bernardo, pretends to be a deaf mute so he can eavesdrop. Dimwitted Sgt. Garcia is kind-hearted and loyal. Don Alejandro is Diego's wealthy father.
Babes in Toyland
Mary Contrary (Annette) is set to marry Tom Piper (Tommy Sands) when he is kidnapped by Roderigo (Gene Sheldon) and Gonzorgo (Henry Calvin), two goons working for the evil Barnaby (Ray Bolger). Barnaby wants to marry Mary for her inheritance. Instead of killing Tom as instructed, Roderigo and Gonzorgo sell him to Gypsies, which allows Tom to rescue Mary. Soon afterward, Tom and Mary encounter the odd Toymaker (Ed Wynn), who becomes a pawn in Barnaby's new scheme.
Sleeping Beauty
Filled with jealousy, the evil witch Maleficent (Eleanor Audley) curses Princess Aurora (Mary Costa) to die on her 16th birthday. Thanks to Aurora's guardian fairies (Verna Felton, Barbara Jo Allen, Barbara Luddy), she only falls into a deep sleep that can be ended with a kiss from her betrothed, Prince Phillip (Bill Shirley). To prevent Phillip from rescuing Aurora, Maleficent kidnaps and imprisons him. The good fairies are the last hope to free Phillip so that he can awaken Aurora.
The Three Caballeros
Comical mixture of animation and live action featuring Donald Duck in four short stories as he travels around South America. En route, Donald meets a flying donkey and Pablo the Penguin, who hates the cold. Disney's first attempt at combining live action with animation was nominated for two Academy Awards.
Pinocchio
When the woodworker Geppetto (Christian Rub) sees a falling star, he wishes that the puppet he just finished, Pinocchio (Dickie Jones), could become a real boy. In the night, the Blue Fairy (Evelyn Venable) grants Geppetto's wish and asks Jiminy Cricket (Cliff Edwards) to serve as the wooden boy's conscience. But the naive and trusting Pinocchio falls into the clutches of the wicked Honest John (Walter Catlett), who leads him astray to the sinful Pleasure Island.
